START OF THE MAPFRE CHALLENGE

The Real Nautical Club of Sanxenxo hosted the presentation of the team and the MAPFRE vessel for the upcoming Round the World Yacht Race. The event was attended by HRH King Juan Carlos, HRH Infanta Elena, José Ramón Lete, Secretary of State for Sport, and Antonio Huertas, MAPFRE Chairman and CEO.

During the event, the latter highlighted the numerous values that have united our company and the team for this global challenge. “We are thrilled by what sailing means – the teamwork of these magnificent professionals – and what it contributes to our society. Wherever this vessel goes, it is in representation of MAPFRE and it means a lot to all those who are related to this company worldwide.”

For the fourth straight year, the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-2018 will be setting off from Alicante (Spain) on October 22. It will consist of nine months of competition, 10 stages, 11 in-port races, visiting 12 ports on five continents.
